Nehalem Boom Company The Nehalem Boom Co. was formed on February 10, 1920 by David C. Eccles as an outlet for the timber of the Oregon -American Lumber Co. handled by the Portland, Astoria & Pacific Railroad. The Boom company built and operated a log dump on the Multnomah Channel at Rafton. The SP&S acquired the Nehalem Boom Co. on December 7, 1921. The company was fully absorbed by the United Railways on December 31, 1935 for tax reasons. The boom continued to operate for the railroad until it was retired in the mid-1950's.
