The Astoria & South Coast Railway

The Astoria & South Coast Railroad was formed on August 14, 1888 and was the first company to operate between Young's Bay and Seaside in the summer of 1890.  Financial difficulties plagued the line and it was sold at foreclosure in 1892.  The successor Astoria and Portland Railway was followed quickly by the Seashore Railway in financial trouble.  The Astoria and Columbia River Railroad took official possession on August 26, 1896.
