Spokane, Portland & Seattle Transportation Company The Spokane, Portland & Seattle Transportation Co. was formed on August 2, 1924 to provide motor coach (bus) service to local points on the Astoria Line. More routes in the region were added to compete with other bus lines, and to facilitate the discontinuance of passenger trains. The bus service was only marginally successful at the best of times, and usually lost money. The company was sold to Oregon Motor Stages in 1942, 10 years before the last passenger train ran to Astoria.
